I started working on this album back in late July of 2014. It has been a long but exciting road. I'm very pleased how the overall sound of the project turned out.
You can see a little of the "behind the scenes" by searching the hashtag #christmas2014album on Instagram. You may find a few posts that are not mine, but the majority are posted by "brandondburch".
Everything you hear was produced by me; however, the album art was created by my brother, Jordan Burch. His music can be found here:
In case you were wondering, the orchestral parts are powered by software called "Miroslav Philharmonik" by IK Multimedia. Exceptions include, but are not limited to, the flute in the opening of "Mary, Did You Know?" and the synths in "Falling Winter". I use Reaper as my digital audio workstation to record and arrange everything, using EZMix 2 and stock plugins to mix. To master (enhance and make louder), I used Ozone 5.
I had a chance to let all of my guitars shine in this project. My Ibanez RG8 was the main rhythm; Yamaha FSX700SC all acoustic parts (including the EBow in the opening of "Mary, Did You Know?"); Ibanez SR755 was used to track bass guitar; Jackson SLSMG for all guitar solos, except all whammy bar sections with my Ibanez RG350DX. The Wah-Wah effect came from my old and almost forgotten Boss ME-20 pedal. All guitar tones came from EZMix 2. Drums powered by Superior Drummer 2.0 Metal Foundry.
Remastered for Christmas 2015.
